Photo of the Day - National Geographic

This photo made the "Photo of the Day" in National Geographic's website.  It is just off the shoreline of Canal Park, here in Duluth, Minnesota!  The photo on their site is much larger and easier to see the children jumping off into the cold, cold water of Lake Superior...probably on one of our hot days on this hotter summer than usual here.

This Month in Photo of the Day: Your Photos With Tips From Photographer Catherine Karnow

I love all the empty space around the swimming platform. It shows how the lake is both huge and peaceful. The figures of the people become very small, and what makes the shot is the person jumping from the platform and appearing especially tiny surrounded by all that water.
