Snow Done, now Deep Freeze

Yes Rob, we are thankful to have you still living with us!
The neighborhood guys taking a break from their work!

This ladder sits on our back deck and will be a permanent fixture until spring!

No Christmas Wreath this year - all our neigborhood Boy Scouts
we always bought from, are now all grown up!We didn't get as much snow here in Duluth yesterday that they thought we might, we ended up with about 7 inches here over the hill. However, 7 inches still means that the guys have to go out and open the driveway and sidewalks, and in my husband's case, remove the snow off our roof. We have three dormers on the back of our house, and if we do not get the snow removed, it piles up in between the dormers and turns to ice, which when it melts can create leaks in our ceilings.
So my husband is obsessive about removing the snow. When he removes it, it piles on our back deck, and its our son's job to shovel it off the deck. I think that is really the reason they both complain so much about the snow and come to hate it by the time winter is over. We have gotten so many snowfalls already, and it's only Jan. 4th, so they are both really having a fit! The wind chill was very low this morning and today, and the wind made drifting on our street, so we had to wait till the city plow came to get out, which sure wasn't very early this morning, in fact it didn't come till almost noon! The sun was bright today, but with the wind chill, it didn't add any warmth. After things were cleaned up and our street plowed I went up to the hospice house to visit Rose, as no one got up there yesterday with the snow fall. The streets are snowcovered and slippery. In Pennsylvania when it snows, the temperature warms up right away after the snow fall, and the snow melts off of the roads....not so here in Minnesota! Especially in January! Oh, I guess you've heard enough of my whining for now. (Oh my, I'm beginning to sound like my husband, who dearly wants to move south in the winter, or to a town house/apt. or condominium where he doesn't need to worry about cleaning snow!)
