The Peonies

Peonies - when I was growing up our peonies in our yard always bloomed in time for Memorial Day. Here in the Northland we must wait a bit longer. Here they bloom in time for 4th of July!

There is a Peony garden in the Rose Garden. This past week they were in their peak. The peony garden was a gift to the city from Elizabeth Donley of Duluth, she was a peony enthusiast whose family has a tradition of growing peonies. She planted more than 100 peony plants in the garden, including heirloom peonies, old and new hybrids and tree peonies. Of course, you know I had to take a photo or two of these lovely flowers. They remind me of home because my Mother had a whole row of peonies in our yard. Go see them before their blooms are gone.
