Blizzard Continues - City Shut Down

16.4 Inches Snow, more to come. 7 foot drifts. 29 inches snow depth. Wind gusts 56 miles per hour. Park Point closed, airport closed, no newspaper delivery. Worse than yesterday. Bus Service and mail delivery cancelled for today. All schools, colleges, most businesses closed. No travel advised. Only emergency routes being kept open. They tell us "If you go out and get stuck, don't expect to be rescued any time soon, so stay in!" It hasn't been this bad since our Oct. 1991 "Halloween Blizzard".

I had to get up early this morning to call the staff and let them know our office is "officially closed", (as if they wouldn't already know, what a no/brainer), but as part of my job, I had to make the phone calls.

Thank goodness for The CHUM (Churches United in Ministry) Drop In Center downtown. There are many homeless people and people that need the CHUM, Damino Center, and Union Gospel Mission services. The Daminio and Union Gospel Mission was closed yesterday and today. CHUM Drop In Center remains open, a place to provide shelter, beds and food.
I'm really tempted to go back to bed!

Yeah, CHUM! I wonder what staff had to camp out there to keep it open.

No guilt going back to bed, really, Linda!
